Going through a marriage or partnership break-up can often be stressful, if you have shared children, housing, bank accounts and real estate that stress level is elevated. We have added some helpful materials here to get you started and supported in the legal system.
Our agency does boast several programs that can either give you direction or hands-on support. Specialized Victim Support Services and Police Based Victim Services through Powell River Community Services Association can support you through the system, and the Poverty Law Advocate (also PRCSA) can help you with filling out forms for Ministry use.
To start with, we have provided some handy website addresses so you can do some searching on your own. The first one will lead you to the Powell River Court Services site. Through here you can check on the criminal lists for Wednesday mornings. The Family Court and Juvenile Court lists are not available here, you will have to go to the courthouse to check, or talk to your lawyer for appearance dates.

Unfortunately Powell River no longer has Legal Aid of any kind in town, but we can provide you with the number to call and they will direct you to a lawyer here who deals with those issues.
The phone number is 1-866-577-2525, the hours of operation are from 8:30-4:00 Monday to Friday.
